Topic 5: Reflections and lessons learned

It is unbelievable that the course ONL202 has already come to an end...

Our weekly meetings, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 17.00 to 18.00, now no more...!!!

No more the rush of finalizing everything on the weekend so that PBL content could be uploaded at the right time, in the desired form with consensus !!

And I am sure the group is missing it all too just like I do .....

But we all had a happy smile on the last meeting wishing each other well, promising to meet up again sometime. Most importantly we all agreed that we were going back from the course with a wealth of knowledge and new friends. We all have in our backpacks a bundle of new theories, new tools, and new perspectives. The entire bundle is so apt, extremely relevant, and with great practical significance.

For the last presentation, it was so much fun to make memes about our experiences as a group and to leave tips of advice for others. The group decided that each of us should express themselves through a meme, so we submitted Collages of memes. I think they were very funny and honest expressions of how we reacted to the course, the content, and the entire experience.

After a long time, it was good to be on the other side of the table -  I was actually a student in a course, working on my 'homework' and trying to be productive in a group so we all could get good grades :)

I want to thank here not only the other 'students' with me but also the facilitators who brought so much life in our group.....Jukka with his conversation and engaging spirit and Paula with her beautiful smile.

Next step...PBL13 decided to use our experiences and come up with a joint article, maybe test the theories we learned, maybe do an essay style article...something that can be contributory to academia. So I am looking forward to our next meeting scheduled in January 2021 and hopefully we can come up with something really good.

thankyou once again all...take care

  1. I'm so glad you found the course rewarding. The idea of the group collaborating to write an article is a very exciting prospect. We had a group from an earlier iteration who wrote a conference paper. We are well aware that the course has more literature and scope than participants can absorb in the 12 weeks we are together but we hope people will refer to the material later on as they put the ideas into practice. All the course pages, recordings etc will be available in the future too.
Please tell your colleagues about the course and hopefully we will see some of them in the spring iteration.

  2. Thank you Soniya for a good summary of the course. Just like you, I'm starting to miss our weekly meetings with tasks for collaboration. On January 11, I have meetings all day, but would like to hear more from you in PBL13 about the article.
